The exhibition

By virtue of the exhibition space, number of objects and broad aims that it has, the Deutsches Museum » in Munich is high on the list of the world's major science and engineering museums. The Deutsches Museum is not merely an exhibition venue, however, it also embodies a research centre for current spin-offs of technology and engineering as well as for the history of technology. The New Technologies Centre » (ZNT) provides an attractive platform for new research topics. In addition to providing space for a flexible schedule of fairs and exhibitions, the New Technologies Centre also offers an events area that can be used in a variety of ways for lectures, scientific theatre, films, etc. The first large special exhibition entitled "Klima - Das Experiment mit dem Planeten Erde" (Climate – The Experiment with Planet Earth) opened its doors in November 2002. Remote_lab has also established itself as an integral part of this exhibition.

Powerful partnerships

In fall 2004 the Intel Corporation decided to join the remote_lab project and integrated the experiments into its teacher-training platform Intel in Education ». Schools can thus not only use the remote_lab, but are furthermore encouraged to design new experiments and to add these to the internet platform.

In the meantime, many new remote_labs have been created all over Europe, including such distant places as Helsinki and Naples. For every remote_lab secure and smooth access is guaranteed by a local resident who is in charge of the "maintenance work", thereby ensuring that people from all over the world are able to conduct the full range of experiments.
